TRAINING AND SUPERVISION
Kirsten Kunkle, MA, LPC, LMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor
Being a therapist is hard work! Whether you are working towards your hours for licensure, or are already licensed, having the right support is essential.
I supervise clinicians who have or are working towards their LPC and/or LMFT
As a therapist you may find yourself in stressful situations in which you are unsure of how to proceed. It can be difficult not to take your work home with you. You might be feeling stressed or activated by client situations and what they are bringing up for you personally.
Many of my supervisees raise issue about:

Transference
Feeling responsible for clients
Not knowing what to do
Integrating new models
Feeling like you have to fix things
Learning to hold the suffering of others
Being frustrated with families, couples and individuals as they struggle to make change
Taking work home with you
Self-care and time management
I have been supervising clinicians since 2007. My approach to supervision is strengths-based, heart-centered, and collaborative. It is important to me that my supervisees feel supported and cared for. During supervision we will work towards helping you feel more confident and competent in your skills and interventions. I will help you become more systemically astute so that you can effectively make second order change with clients. I will attune to your unique needs and help you to grow in the ways you want to grow while also opening you up to new models and ideas.
Supervision is a space to talk about how clients are impacting you and how to manage your own reactions so that you not only grow professionally, but also personally.
I am excited to help you on your journey and to support you in becoming the therapist you want to be!
